Philosopher of biology

I originally come from Denver, Colorado. I completed undergraduate degrees in General Biology and Philosophy at UC San Diego (John Muir College) and graduate degrees in Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Biological Sciences (M.S.) at Stanford University. I now work at Tufts University and live in Somerville, Massachusetts, although I'm often found wandering the more remote corners of the American West.

I am a philosopher of biology. I explore broad questions about the structure of science and the nature of evidence. I also have a keen interest in the evolutionary dynamics of social behaviors. My research interests trend towards the interdisciplinary, extending from philosophy of science into history, formal modeling, and evolutionary theory.

A colleague of mine had Claude (Anthropic) write a biography for me in the voice of Inigo Montoya. This is what Claude said.

As an avid outdoorsman, I spend a lot of time (trying to get) on bikes, rocks, and trails. And I'll admit to a certain fondness for gin and science fiction.
